E X P L O R E - Orange Food Week Forage 2017

This past weekend we were lucky enough to take part in Forage, the increasingly popular Orange F.O.O.D. Week event that this year, sold out in seconds online.

This past weekend we were lucky enough to take part in Forage, the increasingly popular Orange F.O.O.D. Week event that this year, sold out in seconds online.
Forage is a 3.6km walk through the picturesque Balmoral, Koomooloo & North Face Vineyards.  With delicious morsels to eat & top class wines to drink every 500 metres or so, it makes for a perfect day.

Orange is located in the Central-West region of New South Wales.  It's about a 3.5 hour drive from Sydney making it an easy destination to visit but, just that little bit too far so it's not too crowded.  (Although the locals would probably disagree.)
Renowned for it's fresh produce & cool climate wines, Orange is the perfect place to indulge and reconnect (wearing your I&P shirt of course!)

This years Forage was held on the most picturesque Orange day, with brilliant blue skies, billowing white clouds and green vines as far as the eyes could see.
We enjoyed produce from some of our favourite Orange eateries & chefs.  Standouts for us were, the Lyonnaise Saucisson with Morello Cherry Paste by the new Groundstone Cafe.  Edwena Mitchell Catering & Sophie Hanson from Local is Lovely nailed it with a venison chilli con carne. The Village Bakehouse topped it all off with a killer apple crumble pie.
From what we can recall (😜) we loved the Pink Billy from Philip Shaw, the Heifer Station Pinot Gris and the Printhie Merlot.
Oh and lets not forget the handy wine glass holders for hand free enjoyment!  The chicest of F.O.O.D week accessories.

IF you can get tickets for Forage 2018 we can't recommend it highly enough!

Our weekend was topped off by an intimate dinner with Pilu at Freshwater and Angullong Wines at Bell Hill.  Giovanni Pilu and his small (but world class) team cooked the most amazing meal.  4 courses paired with Angullong wines made for one happy evening.
The homemade beef tortelli with burnt butter was well worth breaking the carb fast for!
