C R E W - Take a moment with Local is Lovely, Sophie Hansen
A few weeks ago we were lucky enough to sit down with Sophie Hansen, author of 'In Good Company' and the beautiful blog Local is Lovely. Sophie, based in Orange, is a guru of all thing’s food & entertaining. Her recipes are our go-to for entertaining friends.
My personal aesthetic is... Relaxed, fun, colourful.
Right now, I’m constantly wearing… Jeans, Bensimon sneakers and my Irving & Powell shirts of course!
The most essential item in my wardrobe is… Can I have a couple? I love a patterned skirt and shirt combo.
The smell that transports me to a different time and place… Jasmine - reminds me of walking home from the bus after school in summer and dreaming of the long holidays to come.
My teenage crush was… Johnny Depp!
This song is the soundtrack to my life… I’m not sure if it’s the soundtrack for my whole life but for my adult life I think ‘Gold in them Hills’ by Ron Sexsmith.
My guilty pleasure is… Currently? Watching the Bold Type on Stan. It reminds me a bit of my first job in glossy magazines.
Tonight, for dinner, I’m going to have… My Mum’s lasagna! We are staying with my parents for the holiday and this is my whole family’s favourite thing.
Right now I’m reading… Dark Emu by Bruce Pascoe.
My invite list – living or dead – to the ultimate dinner party, would be …Ah! That’s a hard one!My husband (of course!)Nigella Lawson (because I love her so much!)Da Vinci (so many questions)Russel Brand (feel like he would bring some cheek and interesting ideas to the table – have you listened to his podcast yet? So good.)Emma Thompson (because I feel like she is warmth and humor and good grace all rolled into one)Hannah Gadsby (because her one woman show ‘Nanette’ was one of the most powerful things I’ve ever seen and I’ve been in awe of her ever since and think she’d bring fab conversation!)...and I would feed them all… I think I’d do a really beautiful, simple lamb roast with crunchy spuds, good gravy and lots of lovely vegetable sides. And for dessert, a warm lemon curd pudding with ice cream.
My fave way to wear my Franklin shirt…Boring I know but just with my jeans and sneakers. I love how it can make suck a simple outfit feel ‘put together’.

My personal aesthetic is...classic, timeless smart casual. You never know who you're going to run into.
Right now, I’m constantly wearing... Well it's very boring...either active wear or farm clothes at the moment.
The most essential item in my wardrobe is... Shirts. I own more long sleeve collared shirts than I do anything else.
The smell that transports me to a different time and place...Chanel No.5 It was my Grandmothers favourite every time I smell it I have the same vivid image of her putting it on whilst standing at her dresser.
My teenage crush was...Luke Perry.
This song is the soundtrack to my life…Wow, so many to choose from and so varied. It could be Groove Armada or it could be Garth Brooks, too hard to choose just one song.
I watched this over and over in my teens…8 Seconds - can you tell I grew up in Tamworth, NSW??
My guilty pleasure is...running. With 3 little people I have just started running again and I love it, really love it. I don't remember enjoying it as much as I do now. Oh and cheese. I love Cheese.
Tonight, for dinner, I’m going to have... Eggplant, pumpkin and ricotta Lasagne. We're giving vegetarian meals a go a couple of nights a week.
Right now I’m reading... Mother In Law by Sally Hepworth. I can't put it down, almost finished.
My invite list – living or dead – to the ultimate dinner party, would be ... I'd love to have met my Dad's parents, so it would probably be pulling our family together.
...I would set/decorate the table with... Honestly I am terrible at table decorations and setting a scene, so it would most likely be a few chairs around a fire in our paddock. Maybe a picnic rug and some great cushions…and I would feed them all…Roast Lamb, that we have slow cooked outside in the firepit and an incredible cheese board.

C R E W - Fliss Brophy
FLISS BROPHY
Fliss is a long-time wearer and great friend of I&P and a fellow business owner. Fliss launched Bahru in 2007 whilst at home in Singapore with her first child when she noticed a gap in the market between high end designer bags, and cheap, mass produced options. Fliss had a few bags made and showed them to friends, who loved them so much they became paying customers and Fliss realised she was onto something.Named for the Malay word meaning ‘new’, Fliss brought Bahru home to Western Australia and she now designs from the 150 year old limestone stables located on her family farm.
Please enjoy our delightful 5 minutes with Fliss Brophy..

Tonight, for dinner, I’m going to have... Tacos - they keep the crowd happy.
Right now I’m reading... Bridge of Clay by Markus Zusak.
My invite list–living or dead–to the ultimate dinner party, would be... Zoe Foster-Blake and Hamish Blake, Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag) and Cleaver Greene. What could possibly go wrong?! ...and I would set/decorate the table with... a wrinkly linen cloth, fresh flowers, handmade ceramics, someone else’s cooking and good booze.
My fave way to wear my Franklin shirt... collar up and a half tuck in the front. To the beach, up the paddock or into town.
